Born in Hokkaido, Japan in 1984. Graduated from Hitotsubashi University Faculty of Social Sciences and completed the elementary course in fiction at The Film School of Tokyo. His feature film as a director, “Small, Slow But Steady”, was an official selection at the Berlin International Film Festival Encounters Section. The film also won the Japan Film Awards, Best Director Award and five other awards at the 77th Mainichi Film Awards. His other major works as a director are “Playback” (12), “THE COCKPIT”(15) and “And Your Bird Can Sing”(18).won acclaim at various film festivals including Berlinale.
