JFF continues its partnership with the Short Shorts Film Festival and Asia (SSFFA), one of the longest running short film festivals in the word. Despite being conceived, filmed and produced during our pandemic era, this year’s high quality of work recalls SSFF’s founder BESSHO Tetsuya motto, ”Film is not about length! An infinite cinematic universe can unfold in even a few minutes of visual storytelling!”

The 5 curated shorts cover a diverse range of genres. Look out for a tense drama set in a taxi, sibling forgiveness, and a curious tale of a monk and an elephant. Watch out also for a swordsman lost in time, with a cameo from Megadeth’s guitarist.

Shinji’s life has been ruined by the crime that his brother, Kyosuke, committed. Unable to forgive him, Shinji keeps his brother’s crime a secret from his fiancée. He is also left to reconcile with his estranged mother, while being pestered by a journalist who prompts him to rethink the reason for his brother’s actions.
